Module 4 Introduction
Introducing new technology and resources to your class can be an exciting endeavour. It offers students a new perspective on the way they learn and what they are capable of, and it offers teachers an opportunity to grow as educators. However, it can also be a stressful experience since by the very nature of it being new there is a certain level of uncertainty and requires a bit of time and practice to build familiarity.
Considering the high energy levels, short attention spans, and diversity of learning styles and needs present in the K-3 classroom (not to mention the importance and impact that activities in the class carry), the impact of this uncertainty is magnified tenfold. That said, it's a good thing to step outside of your comfort zone once in a while to try something new.
In this module, we will look at some strategies that teachers use to introduce Zorbit’s Math Adventure into their classrooms and how it can augment a number of different instructional techniques. In doing so, some of the anxiety of bringing Zorbit and his crew into your classroom ought to be alleviated.
In this module, we will address:
- Methods for introducing Zorbit and his crew to your students.
- Using Zorbit’s to guide full-class number talks.
- Using Zorbit’s as part of centre-based learning.
- Using Zorbit’s for individual intervention.
- Getting parents involved for at-home math practice.
